Weekend Review

November 26, 2012

These will probably be on a Sunday evening more typically, but I wanted the India-England test match to finish first before I passed judgment.

An awful performance by Newcastle led to a really disappointing loss to Southampton but I can’t help feeling we’ve reached our nadir in terms of injuries and the only way is up.

Benitez had a good first match in charge of Chelsea in my opinion, as a draw against the champions can never be sniffed at. It will be interesting to see how long it will take for him to win over the support, if it happens at all.

The autumn internationals went predictably, the All Blacks tearing Wales to shreds before a late fightback that proved too little, too late. South Africa sealed a nail-biting win against England but I can’t help but think Robshaw had been hit a bit hard by his last tackle to not take the decision to go for victory with 1 minute left.

Finally, the cricket and a great performance from Pietersen coupled with an astounding bit of bowling from Panesar propelled England to a great victory over what I think is a distinctly weak India team. However, home advantage is still huge and 2-1 will remain my prediction for the series. Let’s set a tradition of successful predictions shall we…

Until the next time!
